Patsy’s Pizzeria is a historic coal-oven pizzeria in New York City and is regarded as one of New York’s original pizzerias as well as for its use of traditional New York style thin crust pizza. It was founded in what used to be the predominantly Italian neighborhood of East Harlem in 1933 by Pasquale “Patsy” Lanceri. Patsy’s claims to have originated the idea of selling pizza by the slice.
