I have to admit I am a big fan of natural food and I usually try and make sure all of the food I buy for my house is organic. You never know what goes into the other food so going with organic is a safe bet. Open markets in new York are great to check out with friends and family on the weekends. Yes, it may be crowded but that is when all of the best vendors are usually out. New Yorkers love to shop this way so there are tons of different markets to choose from that you can go to. Here are some recommendations.
Union Square Greenmarket
Brodway & 17th St. Manhattan, NY 10017
The Union Square Greenmarket is my favorite. There are so many beautiful fruits and vegetables and I end up buying more than I am able to get home. The first time I went there was in the Fall and I had a cup of hot apple cider it was probably the best thing I ever tasted so if you go around the Fall time you cant leave until you try some cider.

New Amsterdam Market
100 Peck Slip New York, NY 10038
New Amsterdam Market is a great place to check out if you are looking to do some fruit and vegetable shopping. Aside from fruits and vegetables this market is very big on their bread. The opening season would be a bread pavilion. The reviews on this market are all great and people say it is perfect to go on a Sunday.
116 Suffolk St. New York, NY 10002
If organic is what you are looking for than you must stop at Organic Avenue located at 116 Suffolk St. Here you can get vegan food and smoothies that seem to get really high ratings on yelp.com. The inside is trendy looking and it is a cross between a restaurant and a market where you can purchase all organic foods.
Siggy’s Good Food
76 Henry Street New York, NY 11201
Siggy’s Good Food is another restaurant that focuses on serving fresh and organic foods that taste delicious. My friend brought me here one time and we had such a delicious meal I would recommend to anyone, even if you usually don’t eat organic food, to go and try this place. You will not be disappointed.
