If you want to be blown away, save your trip to one of the many observation decks for the evening. You’ll get a 360° view of New York City lit up at night. Take an Evening Walking Tour

If heights aren’t your thing, consider going on a walking tour at night. You’ll get a real feel for NYC if you go on a trip during the day and at night. There are many popular routes including Midtown Manhattan, Greenwich Village, Brooklyn Bridge, and the 911 Memorial. Most tours try to set you up to take in the skyline lit up at night.

Laugh a Lot

Few people know that New York’s stand-up and improv scene gave us some of this generation’s best comedians. If you want to see a well-known comedian at a top comedy club, be prepared to shell out the cash.

For more affordable options, check out the Upright Citizens Brigade (founded by Amy Poehler), The Irish Exit (Michael Che and Aziz Ansari got their starts here), and Poco (you can regularly find performers from Comedy Central, NBC, and Adult Swim here).

Put On Your Boogie Shoes

New York City has so many diverse cultures and tastes that you can find pretty much any music and dance preference you like. Some of the best dancing clubs are located in Brooklyn, but you can find many in Manhattan, too.

If you want a more affordable way to see these clubs, try signing up for a pub crawl that visits several dance clubs.

Take in a Show

Going to a Broadway show is one of the most iconic things you can do in NYC. Unfortunately, many people don’t even try because they think tickets are too far outside their price range.

To find Broadway tickets on the cheap, try entering the lottery for the shows you want to see or head to the red TKTS booth to see which same-day tickets are available. These tickets are often sold at a steep discount to fill the house.
